Attacked in Chinatown!
Happy New Year! A protest outside of the Chinese Embassy in central Seoul turned nasty as Peter Jung, founder of the controversial Justice for North Korea was attacked as he tried to hand post the petition his NGO is advocating to the Chinese Embassy. The petition asks for the Chinese to stop breakin international law by forcibly repatriating North Korean refugees. As Peter approached the entrance to the Embassy the door swang open and a Chinese staff member/guard or plainclothed officer stopped him. He was pushed away and shouted at as the Korean police watched and Peter asked why he wan't allowed to deliver it to them. He got no answers. Secret service police then removed Peter and the film crew from the scene as a line pf regular police blocked the entrance to the Embassy whilst Peter screamed "You criminals!" Unfortunatly we don't have any pictures of the said event.... but we do have it on film! Here is the build up to the event. North Korean Defectors hold up information about what they experienced.
Peter speaks through a megaphone with the Chinese Embassy behind him. 3 Plain clothed officers, who Peter describe as 'Secret Service' watch the protest and radio back to the embassy.
Peter and his team finish their protest. Peter asks me to come and film him post his petition to the Chinese Embassy.
The scuffle itself might feature in our film but for now you have to do with this...
